RCIA Begins This Thursday October 24 th
so……What is the RCIA? The letters R-C-I-A, stand for the Rite of Christian Instruction for Adults! Basically, it is a group of adults coming together each week, who wish to become Catholic or the baptized Catholics who have really never been instructed in the Catholic Faith. These people, for one reason or another, never made their First Holy Communion or Confirmation.
The beauty of the RCIA process is that you
are not alone in your conversion. You are a part of a community of people who seek to deepen their relationship with Christ in the Catholic Faith! So, rather than just a one on one presentation or instruction by the Priest, in the RCIA preparation, we are a group with the Priest as the instructor and others who will help him teach our beautiful Catholic Faith! 502 2 What question one person is afraid to ask, another one will ask. You are not alone, but as a community of supportive people we will move forward.
For each person in the RCIA, there will be one
of our Parishioners who will act like a kind of big brother or big sister to one of the RCIA candidates. The role of the sponsor big brother/sister is to help the candidate feel that he or she is a part of a larger community – the community of St. Peter Parish.
We will be meeting every Thursday evening starting this THURSDAY ~ October 24 th
7:30 PM to 8:30 PM in Pastors’ Hall (Lower Church) That is only one hour each week, leading up to the Easter Vigil when the non-Catholics will be received into the Church and baptized Catholics will receive the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. It is really a very beautiful and moving ceremony.
Please note that the Program is also open to
all Catholics who might wish a “refresher” course in the Faith. If you have any questions, please call the Rectory @ 856-663-1373.
